Put your font to work.
Inkfont exports your whole family — Light, Regular and Bold, each upright and italic — in one go. On the Export screen there are three ways out: Install on this iPad, Send to iPhone or Mac and Share the font files. Pick the device you want the font on.
Install on this iPad
iPadOS installs fonts from a configuration profile. Inkfont makes the profile and hands it to Safari, but the last part happens in the Settings app — iPadOS only installs a profile when you confirm it there yourself.
- In Inkfont, open your font, tap Export font, then Install on this iPad. Safari opens.
- Safari asks whether to allow a configuration profile to download. Tap Allow, then Close on the “Profile Downloaded” message.
- Open the Settings app. Near the top, just under your name, there is a new row: Profile Downloaded.
- Tap the profile entry in Settings. Nothing installs until you do — downloading it in Safari only puts it there waiting. If the row isn't showing, go to General → VPN & Device Management and tap your font's profile, named after your font with “(InkFont)” after it.
- Tap Install in the top-right corner and enter your iPad's passcode.
- A warning screen follows. Tap Install again, then Install once more to confirm.
- Tap Done. Your font is now in the font menu of every app that has one.
On an iPhone or another iPad
The same profile works on any iPhone or iPad. Send it from the iPad you made the font on.
- On the iPad, tap Export font, then Send to iPhone or Mac, and choose AirDrop and your iPhone. (Messages, Mail or Files work too — tap the attachment on the iPhone to open it.)
- On the iPhone, accept the AirDrop if asked. iOS shows “Profile Downloaded”. Tap Close.
- Open Settings on the iPhone and look near the top for Profile Downloaded.
- Tap that row to open the profile. If it isn't there, go to General → VPN & Device Management and tap the profile.
- Tap Install, enter the iPhone's passcode, then tap Install twice more to confirm.
- Tap Done. The font is ready in the iPhone's apps.
On a Mac, with the profile
A Mac accepts the same profile. These steps are for macOS Sequoia and macOS Tahoe.
- On the iPad, tap Export font, then Send to iPhone or Mac, and AirDrop it to your Mac. It lands in Downloads.
- Double-click the .mobileconfig file in Downloads. macOS shows a notification that the profile is waiting to be reviewed in System Settings.
- Open System Settings → General → Device Management.
- Double-click your font's profile in the list of downloaded profiles. As on iPad, nothing installs until you open it here.
- Click Install…, confirm with Install, and enter your Mac's login password when asked.
- The profile moves to the installed list. Your font is now in the font menus of Pages, Keynote, Word and other apps — quit and reopen any app that was already open.
On a Mac, with the font files
If you'd rather not use a profile, install the six TrueType (.ttf) files with Font Book, the font manager that comes with every Mac.
- On the iPad, tap Export font, then Share the font files. AirDrop them to your Mac, or save them to iCloud Drive with Save to Files.
- On the Mac, find the six .ttf files — Light, Regular and Bold, each with an Italic.
- Select all six and double-click them. Font Book opens a preview. Click Install. (Or drag all six into the Font Book window.) Install all six so the bold and italic buttons in your apps use your own bold and italic.
- If Font Book asks you to review fonts first, select them and click Install Checked.
- Your font now appears in the font menu of every app on the Mac. Quit and reopen any app that was already open.
Using your font in apps
Your font is listed under the name you gave it in Inkfont. Any app with a font menu can use it, for example:
- Pages, Keynote and Numbers — select text, tap the Format (paintbrush) button, tap the font name and pick yours.
- Procreate — add text, tap Edit Style and choose your font from the list.
- Microsoft Word and most design apps — open the font list and look for your font's name.
- Mail — tap Aa in the formatting bar and choose your font.
Removing the font later
iPad and iPhone
- Open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management.
- Tap your font's profile, then Remove Profile.
- Enter your passcode and tap Remove. The fonts go with it.
Mac
- Profile: System Settings → General → Device Management, select your font's profile and click the − (remove) button.
- Font files: open Font Book, select your font family and press Delete, then confirm with Remove.
Removing an installed font never touches the handwriting in Inkfont — you can install it again at any time.
